TikTok Hit By EU Ultimatum Over Addictive Design Dangers

Photographer: Brent Lewin/BloombergByteDance Ltd.’s TikTok has been warned by the European Union that it needs to overhaul the design of its platform over fears addictive features could “harm the physical and mental wellbeing of its users.”
In a preliminary decision on Friday, EU regulators found the video sharing platform may be in breach of its online content rulebook, the Digital Services Act, because “features of TikTok fuel the urge to keep scrolling and shift the brain of users into autopilot mode.”
