Cornish Metals Plc received funding interest from the US government’s export-credit agency that could underpin the restart of a historic tin mine in southwest England, which closed almost three decades ago.

The Export-Import Bank of the United States issued a letter of interest for as much as $225 million to fund the development of the South Crofty mine, Cornish Metals said Thursday in a statementBloomberg Terminal. Any capital would be conditional on the mine providing a responsible supply of tin to the US, which has labeled it a critical mineral.
