Sugar Giant Sees Brazilian Mills Diverting More Cane to Ethanol
Brazilian mills are likely to prioritize ethanol production at the start of the 2026–27 crushing season as stronger prices incentivize diverting cane away from sugar, according to top producer Copersucar SA.
Ethanol prices have risen amid a tight supply balance, said Copersucar Chief Executive Officer Tomas Manzano in an interview, with demand remaining firm, while the intercrop period has led to reduced production.
