A Philippine congressional committee on Wednesday moved to dismiss impeachment attempts against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., granting him a one-year reprieve from efforts to remove him from office.

The House of Representatives’ justice committee found the complaints “insufficient in substance,” an outcome that was widely expected given that Marcos allies dominate the congress.
