Taiwan’s Lai Calls Delays to Special Defense Budget ‘Dangerous’
Taiwan President Lai Ching-te called on opposition lawmakers to move ahead with plans to spend extra money on the military, underscoring his campaign to bolster the democracy’s defenses as China ramps up its intimidation.
“The opposition has a responsibility to review the special defense budget, especially in the face of the threat from China,” Lai said at a briefing in Taipei on Tuesday.
