Gerard Piqué’s Kings League Gets $63 Million to Reach Gen Z

Hojas/Getty ImagesFormer footballer Gerard Piqué has secured $63 million for his Kings League startup, striking a partnership with media and entertainment investor Alignment Growth as investors pour money into digital-first sports formats targeting Gen Z and Gen Alpha audiences.
The funding will help the Barcelona-based, seven-on-seven football league diversify and expand globally, including in the US, according to a memo reviewed by Bloomberg News. The investment brings Kings League’s total funding to more than $160 million since it was launched in 2023. Its portfolio now includes seven regional Kings League men’s competitions, two regional Queens League women’s competitions and World Cup tournament.
