Statistics Canada Changes Inflation Release Date After Criticism
Canada’s central statistics agency changed the date it plans to publish a major inflation print after economists warned against releasing the data while the country’s financial markets are closed for a holiday next month.
Statistics Canada said it will next update the consumer price index on Feb. 17. Previously, the agency had planned to release the data a day earlier, when eight of the country’s 10 provinces have a statutory holiday and equity and bond markets are closed.
