South African Stocks Slide Most Since April as Metals Tumble
South African stocks plunged the most in April as mining shares were swept up in the stunning selloff across precious metals.
The FTSE/JSE All Share Index fell as much as 4.2%, the worst-performing stock gauge globally on Friday, led by losses in the precious metals and mining sub-index. Miners like Valterra Platinum Ltd., Northam Platinum Holdings Ltd. and Anglogold Ashanti Plc fell more than 12% each.
