The head of an organization that represents Canadian chief executives questioned Mark Carney’s handling of the relationship with the White House, calling on the prime minister to focus on salvaging the North American trade pact.

Carney captured global attention — and annoyed President Donald Trump — with a speech at the World Economic Forum last week. The prime minister said the old rules of the postwar era were gone, replaced by “a great power rivalry where the most powerful pursue their interests using economic integration as a weapon of coercion.” Middle powers, he added, have no choice but to work together and push back.
