UK Seeks AI-Driven Productivity Boost to Offset Lost Jobs

The UK aims to use artificial intelligence to “turbo-charge” its strongest industries as ministers seek to offset potential job losses caused by the technology in some areas with job creation in others.

In a speech at Bloomberg’s London headquarters on Wednesday, Technology Secretary Liz Kendall pledged to offer AI training for all UK employees as the government seeks to equip the British workforce with tools for the future. She said that “change is inevitable” as a result of the fast-developing technology, but “the consequences are not.”
