Senate Democrats are demanding new constraints on President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown in exchange for their votes to avert a potentially prolonged US government shutdown starting Saturday.

The demands, announced two days before the funding deadline, include imposing new use of force restraints on the Department of Homeland Security’s law enforcement divisions. Democrats are also seeking to require the use of body cameras and judicial warrants, require coordination with local law enforcement and forbid the masking of DHS agents.
