Bank of Canada Holds at 2.25% as Uncertainty Binds Rate Path

The Bank of Canada held interest rates steady but warned that volatile US policy is clouding the outlook, leaving officials unsure of the duration of their pause or whether their next move will be a hike or cut.

Policymakers led by Governor Tiff Macklem kept the policy rate at 2.25% for a second straight meeting on Wednesday, as widely expected by markets and a Bloomberg survey of economists.
