Cold Blast Threatens to Cut US Gas Output by Most Since 2021, Energy Aspects Says
A winter storm that’s poised to sweep the eastern two-thirds of the US threatens significant disruptions to natural gas production as water freezes inside pipelines, according to a new forecast from Energy Aspects.
The storm could cut as much as 63.7 billion cubic feet of gas output over the next 14 days, the energy consultancy said Thursday. That’s about 4% of the country’s normal production over a two-week period — and that number could climb if weather forecasts continue to shift colder.
