Ontario Premier Doug Ford and automotive industry leaders doubled down on their opposition to Canada’s trade truce with China, warning that opening the door to Chinese electric vehicles and auto investment risks gutting the Canadian sector.

Ford, flanked by representatives of automakers and factory workers, urged Canadians not to buy cars from China — even if they’re cheaper than domestically made ones — because they come at the cost of local jobs.
