Top EU Banking Watchdog Shortlists Michaud, Herodotou for Chair

The European Banking Authority’s board of supervisors has narrowed the field of candidates to run the watchdog that sets standards for the region’s lenders, according to people familiar with the matter.

Frenchman Francois-Louis Michaud, who has been the EBA’s Executive Director since 2020, and Constantinos Herodotou, a former governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus, are the frontrunners, said the people, who asked to remain anonymous as the matter is private.
