Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has nominated his nephew for Bank Indonesia deputy governor, sparking apprehension among investors that the move could erode the central bank’s autonomy. The rupiah closed near its record low.
Thomas Djiwandono, currently Indonesia’s deputy finance minister, will be one of three names put forward by the president to replace Bank Indonesia Deputy Governor Juda Agung, who resigned, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi told reporters on Monday.
