Benin Ruling Coalition Sweeps Parliament Ahead of April Vote

Benin’s ruling coalition swept parliament, consolidating power ahead of a pivotal presidential vote as President Patrice Talon is due to step down.

Talon’s ruling bloc won all 109 seats in the National Assembly in a vote held weeks after a deadly Dec. 7 coup attempt, according to preliminary results released late Saturday by the electoral commission.
