On Jan. 11, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell posted a statement and short clip on the central bank’s website revealing that the Trump administration had placed him under criminal investigation. The allegations? The Justice Department contends the Fed chair may have lied to Congress about the scope of the $2.5 billion renovation of the Fed’s headquarters.
