New York Factory Activity Expands While Inflation Gauges Cool

New York state factory activity expanded in January, while a gauge of prices received dropped to an almost one-year low.

The Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s general business conditions index increased 11.4 points to 7.7, fueled by a rebound in both orders and shipments, figures issued Thursday showed. Readings above zero indicate expansion.
