Malaysian Utility to Carry Electricity From Laos to Singapore

Malaysia’s Tenaga Nasional Bhd. signed a two-year agreement to enable power transmission from Laos to Singapore, a step forward in Southeast Asia’s ambitions to share an interconnected grid.

The deal expands an ongoing power project linking the countries, and will use existing infrastructure to send 30-100 megawatts of electricity from Laos, often called the region’s “battery”, to resource-scarce Singapore.
