Distress Is Rising Rapidly in Europe’s Infrastructure Sector
Distress among European infrastructure, utilities and power companies is set to rise as financing for the sector dries up and businesses face mounting burdens, according to the law firm Weil Gotshal & Manges.
The industry will become Europe’s third most distressed sector in 2026, sitting behind the retail and consumer goods and industrials groups in Weil’s European Distress Index, the latest report published on Wednesday said. Currently the sector ranks fifth highest among 10 industry groups tracked by the gauge.
