Trump Greenland Talk Sends Danish Krone Toward Intervention Zone
Uncertainty around US President Donald Trump’s plans for Greenland has helped push the Danish krone to its weakest in six years, fueling speculation the central bank will step in to support it.
The currency has emerged as a way for investors to wager on the chances of the US administration taking ownership of the territory, which is controlled by Denmark, with all the geopolitical turbulence that would entail. At the same time, the krone is a managed currency, and the Danish central bank has reserves equivalent to more than $100 billion it can tap to keep it within a trading band.
