Israeli police detained one of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s closest aides and questioned him on suspicion of obstruction of an investigation into the leak of a classified document to journalists.

The aide, Tzachi Braverman, is Netanyahu’s chief of staff, recently appointed Israel’s next ambassador to the UK. He was released late Sunday after 12 hours of questioning, barred from leaving the country for 30 days or entering the prime minister’s office for 15 days.
