DLA Piper has named Russel Drew as its managing partner in Canada, handing the veteran deal lawyer the task of leading the firm’s growth in a market that’s increasingly being shaped by cross-border transactions.

Drew said the law firm plans to expand selectively in Canada, focusing on higher-value mandates in mergers and acquisitions, private equity, capital markets and disputes, alongside sector priorities for the firm including energy and financial services.
