Denmark has been a staunch partner of the US and President Donald Trump should thank the Nordic state not threaten it with a takeover of Greenland, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said.
“The US administration’s threatening rhetoric against Denmark and Greenland is – rightly – being met with very sharp criticism,” Kristersson told a defense conference in the Swedish town of Salen on Sunday. “The US should thank Denmark, which has been a very loyal ally over the years.”
