France’s budget minister warned that the adoption of a finance bill for 2026 risks being pushed back until after municipal elections in March if lawmakers topple the government in confidence votes next week.

“If the government falls, I can tell you for sure that there will be no possibility of having a budget before the municipal elections,” Amélie de Montchalin said in a Sunday interview on France 3 TV channel.
