China Antitrust Body Probes Intense Competition in Food Delivery
China’s top antitrust body has launched an investigation into competition practices in the online food delivery market, citing concerns that subsidy-driven price wars are distorting the real economy and fueling “involution.”
The State Council’s anti-monopoly and anti-unfair competition committee will look into competition behavior among delivery platforms under China’s antitrust law through on-site checks, interviews and surveys, according to a statement released by the State Administration for Market Regulation on Friday. Authorities aim to assess monopoly risks, restore market order and promote fair competition, it added.
