Portugal’s Centeno Says He’s Running for ECB Vice President Role

“I am available to run for the vice presidency of the ECB,” Centeno said by phone. He added that his candidacy is expected to be backed by other member states, while declining to go into detail. “All the conversations I’ve had so far have been very positive. It’s also important that the experience of southern European countries in recent years is represented at the ECB.”
