Emerging Currencies Dip as USD Rises on Data, Geopolitical Risks

Emerging-market currencies fell against the dollar after the latest US data eased fear of a sharper slowdown in the labor market and the economy.

MSCI’s EM currency benchmark slipped 0.1%, with the Thai baht and South African rand felling the most. US labor productivity accelerated in the third quarter to the strongest pace in two years, while US companies announced fewer layoffs last month and are planning more hiring.
