ECB’s Guindos Says Rates Appropriate, Uncertainty Very High

European Central Bank Vice President Luis de Guindos said interest rates are at an appropriate level, though he warned of “enormous uncertainty” due to geopolitical events.

Speaking several days after the US arrested Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, the policymaker said “things are happening that would have been unthinkable just a few quarters ago.”
