Bose Corp. will extend functionality for a range of smart speakers it previously announced would lose support in February, following a customer outcry.

In an email sent to customers, Bose said its long-discontinued SoundTouch products will now lose cloud connectivity on May 6 instead of Feb. 18. But they will still function with local sources of streaming and music, including via music service apps. Bose has taken new steps to ensure that even after the May cutoff, customers will retain access to popular features like Spotify Connect and Apple Inc.’s AirPlay.
