Carney Stresses Venezuela’s Sovereignty After Call With Machado

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney spoke with Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado Sunday and said his government supports “a peaceful, Venezuelan-led transition of power.”

The discussion came on an extraordinary weekend during which the US captured Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and flew him to New York, where he was indicted on drug-related charges. US President Donald Trump said the US will “run” the South American nation until a transition of power is completed.
