Macau Gaming Revenue Misses Estimates in Surprising Slowdown

Macau’s gaming revenue rose 14.8% in December, missing analyst expectations, in a sign that growth in the world’s biggest gambling hub might have lost some steam.

Gross gaming revenue reached 20.9 billion patacas ($2.6 billion) for the month, according to data released by the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau on Thursday. The result was lower than the median analyst estimate of a 18% year-on-year increase, and has returned to 91% of the pre-pandemic level in 2019.
