Malaysia Ex-PM Muhyiddin Quits as Opposition Coalition Head
Former Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin will resign as chairman of the Perikatan Nasional opposition alliance effective Jan. 1, paving the way for a new leader to challenge Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
“I thank all the leaders of PN who have given me their full support while I was leading PN since its formation five years ago,” Muhyiddin wrote in a statement on Facebook on Tuesday. He did not provide a reason behind his decision to resign.
