Turkish Raid on Islamic State Kills Nine Amid Terror Fears

Turkish police raided a house where Islamic State members were believed to be hiding, the latest in a series of operations against the militant group amid warnings of a possible New Year’s Eve attack.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said six suspected members of the group were killed in the Monday operation in Yalova province, about 90 kilometers (56 miles) south of Istanbul. The ensuing firefight left three police officers dead and eight others wounded, he said.
