European Stocks Steady; Mining Shares Gain on Commodities Rally

European stocks were muted, while miners advanced as commodities rallied with traders monitoring the geopolitical outlook in Venezuela.

The Stoxx Europe 600 Index was little changed at the close. Mining stocks led gains as commodities prices rose after US President Donald Trump intensified a blockade on Venezuela. Insurance shares also advanced, while autos as well as food and beverage sectors were among the biggest laggards.
