New South Wales, home to the massacre at Sydney’s Bondi Beach last Sunday, plans to ban hateful symbols and speech, as well as provide police greater powers to remove face coverings during public gatherings.

The state government will introduce legislation to ban the display of symbols of terrorist organizations including Al-Qaeda, Al-Shabaab, Boko Haram, Hamas, Hezbollah and the Islamic State, Premier Chris Minns and attorney general Michael Daley said at a media conference Saturday.
