A New York judge said he won’t rule until May on a bid by Luigi Mangione to exclude key evidence from an eventual trial on charges that he killed UnitedHealth Group Inc. executive Brian Thompson last year.

New York Judge Gregory Carro said he’ll rule by May 18 on a request by Mangione’s lawyers to suppress evidence collected from his backpack by police in Altoona, Pennsylvania on Dec. 9, 2024. Defense lawyers say police should have gotten a warrant before the search.
