Poland to Prioritize EU-Wide Defense Fund for National Defense

Poland will spend much of the funds from the European Union’s military loan program on its own rearmament rather than common purchases with allies, as Warsaw bolsters its defenses to deter Russian aggression.

“First and foremost, we are arming ourselves, and only then will engage in joint purchases,” said Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka, Poland’s minister responsible for overseeing the country’s use of funds from Security Action for Europe, or SAFE.
