The European Union Aviation Safety Agency is proposing inspections of some Airbus SE A320 jets and requiring carriers to repair any out-of-spec panels found on the fuselages.

Operators that took delivery of A320 family aircraft with potentially non-compliant parts will need to measure their thickness if certain conditions apply and report their findings to Airbus, according to the EASA directive issued Wednesday. The airworthiness directive is open to public consultation until Jan. 14.
