EU Blasts Trump’s Attacks as ‘Outdated’ and Urges Independence

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen issued her clearest rebuke yet to Donald Trump’s attacks on Europe, imploring the continent to chart its own course in a changed world.

“We cannot afford to let the worldviews of others define us,” von der Leyen, who helms the EU’s executive branch, said before the European Parliament. “None of us should be shocked by what others say about Europe.”
