UK Has Second Go at Planning Reform as Housebuilding Stalls

The UK Government is bolstering its housebuilding deregulation with a second update to the national planning policy framework, as Labour risks falling well behind on the house building target at the heart of its election pledges.

Developments around rail stations will be treated with a default ‘yes’ approach in new proposals outlined by Housing Minister Matthew Pennycook in parliament. The default ‘yes’ approach will also apply to new multistory developments in towns and cities.
