French prosecutors have asked that ex-President Nicolas Sarkozy face another trial over accusations linked to alleged corrupt Libyan campaign finance that led to his jailing earlier this year.

The Parquet National Financier requested on Tuesday that Sarkozy face trial over allegations he, his wife Carla Bruni and others participated in a conspiracy to convince a suspect to retract a witness statement against the former president. The decision on whether to order a trial will ultimately be made by an investigative judge.
