Turkey shot down an unmanned aerial vehicle over the Black Sea approaching its airspace, a rare military intervention by the NATO member amid regional tensions.

The drone was determined to have gone out of control and was destroyed by F-16 fighter jets away from residential areas as a precaution, the Turkish Defense Ministry said on X, without disclosing the origin or ownership of the drone.
