Thailand will hold a general election on Feb. 8, with pre-poll surveys signaling a fractured mandate as outgoing Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul bets that the intensifying armed conflict with Cambodia will bolster support for his conservative party.
More than 50 million Thai voters will cast ballots to elect 500 members of the House of Representatives — 400 constituency lawmakers and 100 party-list members. Candidates can register to contest constituency seats between Dec. 27 and 31, the Election Commission said in a statement on Monday.
