The UK government vowed to pass its flagship legislation on employment rights by Christmas, despite suffering a defeat Wednesday in the House of Lords.

“We remain committed to passing this bill before Christmas, and will work with unions, businesses and legislators to get this done,” Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s spokesman, Geraint Ellis, told reporters on Thursday.
