IMF Works Toward New Mozambique Deal Amid ‘Immense Pressures’

The International Monetary Fund said it’s working hard to create the necessary conditions for a new financed program with Mozambique, as the southeast African nation faces “immense pressures.”

Mozambique, among the world’s poorest nations, ended a prior arrangement with the Washington-based lender in April, three months after a new government took office. The administration chose to pursue a program that better reflected its priorities, but talks have dragged on.
