Germany and France are making a last-ditch effort to salvage one of Europe’s most ambitious defense projects, as momentum builds in Berlin to bury the fighter jet mired in a battle for control between the main companies.
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius and his French counterpart, Catherine Vautrin, are meeting in Berlin on Thursday to try to save their troubled plan to develop a next-generation aircraft with Spain. Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles will hold discussions with both later in the evening.
