Drax Group Plc is drawing up plans to add one gigawatt of data-center capacity to secure the future of its power plant in northeast England.

Drax’s shares have surged in recent weeks on the prospect of the power generator leveraging its existing assets to cash in on the current data-center boom and soaring demand for electricity.
