French Grid Operator Sees Power Oversupply Lasting Years
France’s electricity glut will persist until at least 2028 as demand increases at a slower-than-expected pace amid sluggish economic growth.
The surplus is good news for consumers and may keep a lid on power costs in neighboring countries as well. But it’s likely to curb profits at Electricite de France SA, making it harder for the utility to finance its plan to build six new nuclear plants.
